Apparently ,these were offered as an option by Tesla for early Model S’s. Looks are subjective, but here, they do look noticeably similar to cheap Autozone hubcaps.

According to this presentation slide, they would increase the range of the Model S by 3%. That is a negligible difference to most, but hey, more range is good, right?

As expected, the Aero wheels are a rare sight. Many factors come to play here. For example, they were only available for one model year. Also, the looks did not appeal to many.

I saw these for the first time today on jalopnik and my first thought was someone had installed some cheap wheels from discount tire.
